SERIE: "Biografía Espiritual" ILUSTRACION DIGITAL - Spiritual biography- Part of my art process. Fernanda Rojas Páez

            This is a photo montage I made in 2009 to show the process which I lived during the previous investigation to define my artistic proposal. Could say it is my spiritual biography. I did it with personal photos.
           I make it public for those persons interested in knowing me better, and  understand my artwork. And, as always, with the intention that it would be  useful for anyone to understand itself (or) a little more.

First Picture - Origin

-"Origin" represents the time when my spirit begin to set. At this moment many magical and sweet  images play around a baby who just feel the love of her yaya "Granny" Mapuche, her mother and the presence of guardian angel. Do not see the smog, or a distant Araucaria. Neither understands the pain that is in the apartment, where the father is only in a picture. This begins to weave the loom. "
        Characters in this picture. My lovely and beautiful mother. A Mapuche Granny's identified as Virginia, my yaya. The guardian angel (inevitable in the infancy of the children of Catholic families in Chile). Back in the windows of the apartments is a picture of my father. An excellent man, lawyer, politician. He died after 6 days I was born. I met him only through photographs.

Second Picture- To Awaken

           In "To Awaken", a smile decorating the face of the girl. She is entertaining and sometimes amazed at all the happy bubbles that dance around. The wise turtle I Ching, begins to have more presence, Indian religions are interesting, Buddha is wise, the yaya’s  kultrún is also important. Love will save the world!.           I found a lot of faith in my way, many idols, many gurus, many teachers, holy, spiritual guides. They instilled in me faith that humanity had hoped.

Third Picture - Motherhood

            - Between heaven and earth are individual beings (Confucius, I Ching). The land materialize what creates heaven. The mother has the strength and docility of a horse on earth. The father has the power of a dragon who lives in the real world and fantasy world. She  contains the world in her womb. In the Turtle I Ching shell I possible to read the oracle. The mother earth receives and gives his wise teaching.-

         After many trips, I received the motherhood. It was and it is my happy and wonderful landing to reality, to the ground. In the picture I am cradling my oldest daughter. We are knowing each other. This has been the same  with my other three children.

Fourth Picture- Coins

       "Money makes the world go round". In a few coins are fired weapons, in a  coins children cry from hunger and are abused,  in some coins Jesus is crucified, and the war continues, and broken dreams. Love does not save the world, coins make the world go round. In some coins the yaya is persecuted, Buddha is banished, the turtle is hidden, the mother cries.

The landing on earth also show me this painful reality. I think the movie Cabaret (a classic with Liza Minelli), interpret very well that feeling.

Fifth Picture - Death and rebirth 

"Death and rebirth. " The pain of the world it is mine, and my pain belongs to the world. Everybody crying the pain world, everybody cry  it is own pain. My spirit is shocked. People crying and screaming pain. The spirit drowns in blood and tears, cries rend the earth... Until the spirit begins to reconcile with reason.
As also found this in earthly reality, I had to mourn all of it. I had to get to the bottom of my pain to be reborn and to give to me, and  my children, this pain processing.

Sixth Picture-White Orchids

White Orchids get the last drops of pain and love drunk the spirit. It is the beginning of the new building of the spirit. The beauty is real. In the inner self, thousands friendly and magical images entertain and accompany the heart. There is the mapuche sacred wisdom, the Sufis, the I Ching, God. It is possible to weave these strands white, it is possible to weavethe loom.

This journey into the pain brought me back to my inner self, seeking a reconciliation with the world. They were my beautiful children, friendly hands,  friendly voices, who helped me in this work.

Seventh Picture- Eclipse

It is producing an eclipse of both worlds, the Mapuche and the Chinese by the I Ching. Both merge slowly, giving colours, symbols, multiple images, and they can live in peace.

The spirit is happy and growing harmony. The Mapuche weaving looms with the hexagrams of the I Ching, begin to be woven into a single network.

Finally my inner world being harmonized with the external. I recognized and accepted my origin, my earthly reality, my spiritual reality.

Eight Picture - Communion

Communion occurs between the two worlds, they are  integrated into a loom in a cross, the hexagrams of I Ching and the Mapuche sacred symbols. Thus harmonious integrate the spirit of "Granny" my yaya, the Ave Phoenix, the holy Kwan Yin, the kultrún, white orchids, the Chinese warrior, the teacher Confucius, Jesus. Many symbols, and spiritual sacred images are integrated in communion.

I also take communion. I receive this truth in me and for me.

Ninth Picture- Totality

The magic loom begins to weave, the hexagrams of the I Ching, the Mapuche symbols are   in perfect harmony, perfect peace. They can live together in the spirit and in the inner self as well. One or the other are sometimes transparent, sometimes stronger, but grow out from the heart, enlightened by God in this construction of the spirit, my spirit.
So in that form I begin this integration of this two cultures. As I say, I begin to weave the loom. And I begin to realize the first part of the "Dialogue of Reunion ", which I showed in my recent art exhibition.

Elevada ventura y éxito proclama el símbolo de La Marmita, Ting. En ella se encuentra el alimento de la vida y con el que se agasaja a los huéspedes. Todo irá bien pues la divinidad está presente.

RELATO: Exposición DIALOGO DE REENCUENTRO

Estoy exponiendo en Santiago, en la Galería Piso Dos, ubicada en Lastarria 29.

El trabajo de la exposición ha sido bien intenso. Toda la preparación previa fue muy motivante, muy creativa, muy esperanzada en que por fin este trabajo lo iba a poder mostrar, porque esa es mi finalidad como artista que mis obras lleguen a su destino, o sea a los ojos de la gente y ojalá al corazón y a sus mentes. Eso para mí es el cierre del proceso.

Mi primerisimo interés y mi mayor felicidad es pintar, trabajar con los materiales, con los colores, sorprenderme con cada nueva forma o mezcla de color que se produce en mis obras y trabajar con el alma ahí en mi tela, sintiendo el influjo de la simbología de mis ancestros mapuches, y de mis maestros del I Ching, embriagada en un mundo espiritual, ajena al mundo terrenal, viva y en plenitud. Entregando mi voz, mis pensamientos, mis deseos, en la tela, para que haya mas paz en el mundo, mas amor, mas unión. Para decir lo que quiero decir.

Sin embargo, y como bien lo dice mi sabio amigo el I Ching, en el hexagrama 22 La Gracia, ese momento de contemplación, se acaba y se debe aterrizar en la realidad.

La realidad... la realidad en el caso de una exposición, para mi es compleja. Disfruto cuando las personas miran mi trabajo y se atreven a opinar, para bien o para mal. Me fascina que algunos se identifiquen, entiendan, se emocionen, vean la profundidad, se alucinen con los colores, digan ... oh, no sabía esto de la dos culturas. Hoy he aprendido algo... es bellisimo todo eso.

Por otro lado está todo el movimiento que se genera en torno a la exposición. El galerista que le interesa que tu obra se venda, pero que una lo pase bien también, que se debe difundir, que se debe aparecer en la prensa, en los diarios, que la gente debe acudir a la exposición, que debemos tener público, que los catalogos, que las invitaciones, que la inauguración, que las fotos, que los contactos, que aquel está interesado en ese cuadro, que el otro quiere conversar contigo..., que todos opinan que se puede hacer esto, que se debía hacer aquello, que no debiste poner ese cuadro, que si tenías que ponerlo, Ufff.!!  Bonito, se agradece tanto interés, se agradece la buena voluntad y la buena onda... es importante, y entiendo!! que hay que vender!!! para pagar todo lo que se invierte en la exposición que no es poco!! pero...

¡Estoy exhausta!

Con ganas de encerrarme en un rincón de mis telas, pintarme entera con mis pinturas, sentir el aroma esplendoroso de la linaza, del óleo, jugar con mis acrílicos y dejarme llevar por la magia del espiritu bueno del Pillán o por la divinidad de Ting y preguntarles otra vez... qué quieren que pinte, a dónde me llevan ahora??

“Texto de catálogo”

Esta exposición de mi último trabajo, que al mismo tiempo es el comienzo de una serie, muestra un reencuentro abierto y frontal a través del arte, de dos culturas que conviven en mí, como en muchas personas. Desde lo más terrenal, reconozco mi origen indígena mapuche, como chilena. Y en lo espiritual, la cultura china del I Ching como guía, que se mezcla con mi fe occidental en Dios.

Este acercamiento se vincula también con el reconocimiento de que la hermandad de estas dos culturas nació con la globalización hace miles de años, cuando llegaron los conquistadores del Sur de Asia a América.

El lenguaje de este diálogo de reencuentro es la simbología originaria, tanto china como mapuche y parte con obras independientes, llegando a una re integración y comunión en cuadros únicos.

Desde la materialidad busco que mis cuadros sean objetos en si mismos, completos y finales, para esto ocupo técnicas mixtas de óleo, acrílico, tinta china, texturas, tierra de color, arcilla, etc.; tanto sobre tela como madera. Por su parte el color cobra fuerza y a veces se adueña de un cuadro dejando detrás la simbología. Sin embargo, evidentes o no, los símbolos de ambas culturas originan y conducen mi trabajo.

“Propio del hombre es manejar símbolos, es decir crearlos, organizarlos, comprender su sentido y sus equivalencias, su código. Imposible sería intentar siquiera comprender o aproximarse a una cultura al margen de su universo simbólico…el conocimiento de la simbolización de cada cultura nos lleva a entender cuál es su concepción de la realidad, cómo conciben la vida humana, sus aspiraciones, los caminos correctos par enrumbarla… Nos dicen los símbolos de los niveles de aceptación de lo sobre natural, de su presencia en el mundo natural, de su inmanencia y de su trascendencia, de cuáles son los recursos para conciliar las fuerzas del bien y conjurar las del mal.” Dice el ecuatoriano Claudio Malo González, en su libro “El Arte y la Cultura Popular”.
